Surrey365 is the University’s Email Service which is provided through a partnership between the University and Microsoft using Microsoft’s Office 365 service.
Surrey365 provides Email and Calendaring to the University and has the benefits of a 50GB Mailbox, effective spam filtering and a fast interface.
Logging into Surrey365
To login to Surrey365 visit: surrey365.surrey.ac.uk and enter your IT Account credentials.
You can set up your Surrey365 account with the personal features that you require. View the Getting Started Help Sheet or the video below to find out how to make the most of the features available.
Configuring Surrey365 on your device
To set up Surrey365 on your device use the step-by-step help sheets below. If the device that you would like to connect Surrey365 to is not covered in the help sheets please contact IT Services who will aim to provide further technical support if needed.
Surrey365 is a 24/7 service which is available on-campus via the University’s Network and off-campus from anywhere you have Internet access via Microsoft’s Outlook Web App which is accessible at: https://surrey365.surrey.ac.uk/.
IT Services recommends using Outlook Web App to access Surrey365 however access is also available from mobile devices and through an email client which can use IMAP or Exchange to connect to the service.
Note: All University of Surrey students are registered to use Surrey365 and are obliged to check their Inbox regularly as it is the University’s primary method of communication.
All students have a standard mailbox storage quota of 50GB. On approaching this size limit you will receive email notifications to free up space as follows:

Deleted Item Recovery
A user-initiated restore utility is available to retrieve deleted messages or mail folders from the Deleted Items folder for up to 30 days. Further details of how to do this can be found in the Getting Started Help Sheet.
Note: After 30 days the contents of the Recover Deleted Items folder is permanently deleted and cannot be retrieved by IT Services or Microsoft.
IT Services scans and removes all email categorised as spam before it reaches any @surrey.ac.uk address. The spam filters are constantly updated, however, it is almost impossible to detect 100% of spam. If you receive any email that you are concerned about, you should forward it to the IT Service Desk at email@example.com.
If you are receiving unwanted emails follow the instructions below to block an individual sender.
Clutter can help you filter low-priority email, saving time for your most important messages. The email server keeps track of the email you read and the ones you don’t. Clutter is automatically enabled so if it is not for you, you can turn it off by following the instructions below.
- A valid University Username and Password are required to access the Surrey365
- Smartphones may additionally require a pin number when connecting to the service
Note: IT Services will never ask for University Password details under any circumstances. If you receive an email requesting personal details which you are concerned about you should contact the IT Service Desk.
The University checks all incoming email for viruses. Mail sent internally within the Service is subject to virus checking on University Exchange Servers.
