University of Huddersfield Journalism and Media
Studying Journalism and Media is a pathway to an exciting career. From war correspondents filing TV reports from the front lines to sports reporters rushing out copy as soon as the final whistle blows, or multimedia journalists using a variety of new technologies to tell stories in innovative ways, there’s a lot to be inspired by.
We aim to give you the grounding you’ll need to turn that inspiration into a rewarding and varied professional life. Whether you want to write for your local paper, become a broadcaster or use social media to be the next rising star on online journalism, we’ve got the tools and expertise to help you.
Developing your skills is one thing, but there’s no substitute for putting them into practice in the real world. Here at Huddersfield we help you stand out from the crowd and make valuable contacts by offering you the opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience.
Our students have worked at the BBC, ITV and at many commercial radio stations and magazines, or have produced PR material for clients in the public and private sectors. Some make such a good impression they are offered jobs, and we often have students who begin paid work before they’ve even graduated, some having gone on to careers with Sky News, BT Sport and Liverpool FC.

We have recently upgraded to a brand new four camera Panasonic HD TV Studio which contains state of the art digital technologies. The large studio provides ample space for news programme and game show scenarios including provision for external events.
