The Queen’s Park Campus is home to the Faculty of Business and Management. Located centrally on the idyllic banks of the River Dee, Queen’s Park Campus is only a short distance from the lively city centre, and provides a friendly, secure and supportive environment in which to study.

In addition to the two large lecture theatres and seminar rooms, further facilities include the open access PC suites, a dedicated business library, catering outlets including a top-floor Brasserie-style dining room overlooking the River Dee and formal gardens and walkways down to the river.

The background

The Neo-Georgian Churchill House building, completed just before the outbreak of World War Two in 1937, was the Western Command Headquarters of the Army controlling its forces from Hadrian’s Wall on the Scottish border, right down to Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. It was of great strategic importance and reputedly the site of top secret meetings between Sir Winston Churchill, General Eisenhower and General De Gaulle. Field Marshall Montgomery was a frequent visitor.

The modern Bridge House was built in 1997 and its most recent occupant was Lloyds Banking Group. Both buildings have been empty since Lloyds vacated the premises in 2009.

As part of the University’s Green Travel Plan, students are urged to walk, take public transport, or use the shuttle bus service currently running between the Parkgate Road Campus and Queen’s Park Campus. Through the University’s Green Chester initiative, environmental awareness is a strong feature of Queen’s Park, with paper bins banned in individual staff offices and active promotion of a culture of recycling.

Although the site is private property, the University will host public events, including lectures, to which the community will be invited.
