Newman University Degrees

Undergraduate Courses

Newman has a range of full and part-time undergraduate degrees and Initial Teacher Education Degrees. All degrees at Newman give you the opportunities to gain graduate level work experience during your studies. We also have a number of degrees that you can study on a part-time basis.

Valuable Experience
Work-placement is an important element of all degree courses giving Newman students an advantage in a very competitive graduate employment market.  Students produce a piece of assessed work based on their experiences, and enable students to gain greater understanding of the industry they intend to work in and gain valuable relevant experience.

Develop Skills
Newman graduates work in a wide range of careers including personnel, sports management, psychology and teaching. Some of them work in universities or are studying for higher degrees, whilst others are working in organisations in England, Canada, America, Ireland and elsewhere in Europe. All our students are helped to develop skills in IT, communication, team work and critical thinking.

Good Social Skills
Thanks to a lively Students’ Union, they also have a very good social life whilst they study. Our graduates are positive, lively and skillful people and employers recognise this.

Make a Difference
The time that you spend at university will shape your opportunities for life. We hope that you will choose to study at Newman, where our students develop into people who want to make a difference in the world. Newman societies will involve you in ethical debates or in community volunteering.

Expect to Achieve
Newman also has a great sporting tradition and teams have won university championships in football, Gaelic sports and basketball. Our students come from a very broad range of backgrounds, cultures, faiths and experience. Whoever you are, whatever your ambitions, there will be a welcome here for you. Our aim is your success. We look forward to seeing you here!

Part-time Courses

Newman provides a number of part-time Honours degrees to enable students to combine university study with work or family commitments. Part-time students have many motivations for undertaking their higher education including enhancing skills currently used in their work, or as the first step towards changing to a more rewarding and fulfilling career. Newman’s part-time foundation degrees and postgraduate courses are vocationally relevant and it is possible for students who can be flexible regarding their hours of work to combine study and work by completing these courses on a module by module basis.

These courses are in addition to the part-time undergraduate courses on our single and combined Honours programme. Studied over 4.5 years instead of 3, these part-time courses will provide you with the flexibility to combine paid employment with study. You will continue to study alongside full-time students and benefit from the same academic expertise. This focus on developing highly skilled graduates is why Newman consistently has one of the best employment rates of graduates of all UK universities.
