Dance at Falmouth provides you with an inspirational, creative and educational experience that focuses on innovative performance and choreographic practices, underpinned with a thorough grounding in dance techniques. Based in the exceptional facilities of the Performance Centre, our practice-led course is designed to give you the skills, experience and confidence to become versatile, adaptable and creative dancers, choreographers and communicators.

You learn to develop your physical, technical and critical capabilities. You learn how to research, analyse and write about your developing practice and engage with the wider contexts and communities of contemporary dance, choreography and performance.

We encourage and enable you to follow your interests, skills and abilities specialising in Dance & Choreography, or Dance & Performance, or Dance & Communities. Our extensive networks and international partnerships offer the chance to collaborate with some extraordinary institutions and companies. When you graduate you are actively prepared to contribute to the creative economy and to our social, cultural, educational, and economic futures at a professional level.

The BA(Hons) Dance & Choreography course combines three strands of teaching and learning: techniques and skills (dance and choreographic techniques and performance training); critical reflection and analysis (histories, theories, and contexts); and performance projects and productions (making and performing works for differing contexts, publics, and environments).

These approaches are rooted in inquiry, research and critical thinking and offer you an intensive practical focus, informed and extended by theories of dance, performance, and choreography, and engagement with the shifting contexts and audiences of contemporary dance practices.

Our alumni have gone on to secure residencies, commissions and internships with Dance4, Dance Base, Yorkshire Dance, Motion Bank/Forsythe Company in Frankfurt, London’s Jerwood Space, and Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York.
