The City North Campus is home to our renowned Education and Teacher Training courses.
Located just three miles north of the city centre, it’s simple to get to and has on-site parking, and you’re only minutes from the Perry Barr train station and major bus routes.
The School of Education enjoys an enviable reputation, training more teachers than any other provider in the West Midlands. This means our campus includes fantastic facilities and resources, including a dedicated specialist library resource; a spacious, recently refurbished Refectory which includes a Costa Coffee outlet and a branch of our ‘ASK’ student enquiry service. It also benefits from 24-hour security on the site with lighting and CCTV monitored by our Security Control Room.
You can also work out at the new £8.5 million Doug Ellis Sports Centre, which offers a fitness suite, sports hall, plenty of room for five-a-side football and cricket, and an all-weather pitch.
Our popular conferencing, sports and social facility, The Pavilion, is also just minutes away and provides an all-weather pitch as well as football and rugby pitches.
The Den now open to students
Looking for somewhere relaxing to spend time at City North? We’ve been busy transforming Leyland House in the City North Student Village into a great place for you to hang out.
This former office building on Oscott Road has been completely overhauled to include a cinema, pool table and study rooms, making it the perfect place for you to relax, hang out with friends and even make new ones.

All teaching and learning resource areas on this campus are physically accessible via level or ramped access and lifts. There are also numerous accessible toilet facilities. All passenger lifts have speech output and there is tactile paving to assist blind and visually impaired people through the campus. External steps are marked with white edging.
An accessible shopping centre called One Stop is close by and has level access to most shops and lift access to other floors. Unfortunately Perry Barr train station, which is close to the campus, is not wheelchair accessible.
City North Campus is accessible for most people; however, we recognise that individuals can experience a wide variety of difficulties. To find out more about this site’s accessibility in relation to your specific difficulties, please contact the Disability Support Team.
Visitors with hearing loss
If you are visiting the University and have hearing loss which means that you may have difficulty hearing the fire alarm in the event of an emergency evacuation, please request a Deaf Alerter pager from the main reception of the campus you are visiting. You will be able to keep this pager with you for the duration of your visit to alert you if the fire alarm goes off.
There are limited parking spaces for students at City North Campus – there is a pay-on-foot car park system in operation. Free disabled parking is also available. View our campus map for more information.
