University of Sheffield Union

Societies are groups of students who enjoy a common interest. Most Sheffield students are involved in societies because they’re the best way to make friends, try new things (or carry on your passions) and guarantee a worthwhile experience.

The Students’ Union is home to well over 300 societies and committees so we hope you’ll find one (or a few!) that suit the way you want to spend your free time.

You can join societies at any time throughout the year, just get in touch!

Click here to download our handy guide to all the Zone Online advice.

With over 300 societies and committees to choose from – every taste and pursuit you can think of is catered for at the SU.

Find a society to begin a new or continue an existing interest, make friends and have some fun…

Interested in starting a society?

Students have the opportunity to apply to set up a brand new society to pursue their interest and see your ideas come alive.

The next window for new Society applications will open on 14th August 2017. You can read more about the process in this guide: How to Start a Society
