University of Sheffield Graduation Gown
If you wish to attend your ceremony it is compulsory to wear academic dress (robes, hood and hat). You should hire or purchase these directly from the official robe makers for the University, Ede & Ravenscroft.
How to hire
Orders for robes can be placed from 6 March until 23 June 2017.
- Robes should be ordered as early as possible and definitely by the DEADLINE OF 23 JUNE
- You can order your robes online at www.edeandravenscroft.co.uk/graduation-services/ or over the telephone on 01223 861 854
- When ordering, please be prepared with your head circumference, chest and height measurements, your award information (ie your degree type and faculty) and your credit/debit card details
Cancelling your robe hire
If you find that you cannot attend your ceremony, for whatever reason, Ede & Ravenscroft will refund your hire payment, less a small administration charge, provided that they receive your claim for refund 7 full days before the date of your ceremony.
You can cancel your order using the ‘Review/Amend/Cancel’ option or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that for security reasons, Ede & Ravenscroft cannot accept cancellations over the telephone.
Robing timetable and collection point
You should collect your robes from Uni Central, Level 4, Students’ Union Building between the times stated below:

The University and Ede & Ravenscroft do not provide hair grips so please ensure you bring a supply with you should you wish to use them to secure your hat. Pins are not permitted.
All robes must be returned to Uni Central by 5.45pm. (8.45pm if you are graduating at the 6.30pm ceremony on Wednesday 19th.)

The ceremonies are formal occasions and we recommend that candidates dress smartly. We welcome national dress and military uniforms. Jeans, T-shirts, trainers and similar casual attire are not considered appropriate for graduation ceremonies.
