University of the Highlands and Islands Entry Requirements

Academic requirements

At Inverness College UHI, we aim to provide a learning structure which helps you reach your goal no matter where you start from. We do this by taking into account your formal education at previous institutions as well as your relevant work experience.

For access to our degree courses, you will need to present a document confirming your qualification at a level equivalent to Scottish Highers in relevant subjects.

Examples of qualifications we will accept (degree-level study):

All countries: International Baccalaureate Diploma
India: All India Senior School Certificate / Higher Secondary Certificate, standard 12
Bangladesh: Higher Secondary Certificate (standard 12)
Nepal: Higher Secondary Certificate
China: Senior High School Diploma
Russia: Certificate of Secondary Education
Brazil: Certificado de Conclusão de Ensino Médio

Study Abroad and Exchange applicants from Canada and USA should have a Grade Point Average at 2.7 or above. Students from other countries should have good pass grades for courses they have taken back at their home institution.

Documents you need to submit

Please submit complete set of documents:

    • Application form completed in full, (including personal statement and supplementary questions)
    • Copies of school certificates
    • Copy of a valid English language certificate (only if you are not a national of a majority English speaking country)
    • Evidence of relevant work experience/references
    • Copy of passport (personal pages and UK visa, if applicable)

Transfer students should submit the following documents:

  • Application form (completed in full, including personal statement and supplementary questions)
  • Official academic transcript along with module (course) description
  • Copies of school certificates
  • Copy of a valid English language certificate (only if you are not a national of a majority English speaking country)
  • Evidence of relevant work experience/references
  • Copy of passport (personal pages and UK visa, if applicable)

Study Abroad and Exchange students should submit the following documents:

  • Application form for Study Abroad and Exchange
  • Cover letter from your home institution
  • Academic transcript with a brief description for each course completed at your home university
  • English Proficiency Statement (if not a national of a majority English speaking country)

Incoming ERASMUS exchange students should submit the following documents:

Your application must be submitted by the ERASMUS office at your home university/college
