University of the Highlands and Islands Development Trust

At Perth College UHI, we are committed to providing the most stimulating learning environment possible and our Development Trust provides the financial support we need to help us achieve our ambitions.

Fundraising allows our scholarship fund to help talented students in financial need, and we also work with alumni, friends and benefactors of the College, helping to increase opportunities for our students.

Mission statement

Our mission is to be the leading educational provider serving rural and urban communities in the Highlands and Islands region and beyond. The University is different – much of what we do derives from the geography, environment, culture and heritage of the region. We offer learning and research opportunities in a diverse range of subjects including marine sciences, environment and climate change, creative industries, archaeology, history, Gaelic, health (diabetes), business and management, adventure tourism, renewable energy, history and many more!

University of the Highlands and Islands Development Trust

In 2016, the University of the Highlands and Islands Development Trust was formally wrapped up. This involved transferring all of its assets and liabilities to the University of the Highlands and Islands. This was done as the Trust was set up many years before the university gained title in 2011. As such the Trust was able to operate under the title of “University of the Highlands and Islands Development Trust”, a privilege not available to the, then, UHI Millennium Institute. With the university having gained title, this separation is no longer necessary.

Although the Development Trust has formally wrapped up, your support is still very much appreciated and you may still make a donation to the university, charity number: SC022228.

Gift Aid

Maximise the impact of your gift.

If you are a UK taxpayer, your gift can be worth almost a third more, at no extra cost to you. Currently, we can claim 25p on every pound you give in tax relief, plus we will receive a government supplement of an extra 3p on every pound. A donation of £100 is worth £125 to the university.

Gift Aid can apply to donations of any amount, large or small, made by cash, cheque, standing order, debit or credit card.

You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that we reclaim on your donations in the tax year. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief on your Self-Assessment tax return.

Giving from the United States of America

If you are US tax payer, the University of the Highlands and Islands is supported by a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law.
