Continuing Education supports the mission of the University of the Arts by facilitating access to innovative educational opportunities and resources for a diverse population of adult learners; including credit and non-credit courses, workshops and Certificate Programs designed to anticipate and meet the changing professional, academic and lifelong learning needs of individuals in the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Professional Institute for Educators
The Professional Institute for Educators empowers educators across disciplines to continually advance their teaching skills to improve learning for all students. Through graduate courses, PIE develops innovative and creative educational programming to serve the professional development needs of K-12 teachers in and through the arts.
Masters of Education and Graduate Certificate Programs
For years, our graduate courses for educators have won the praise of teachers and the endorsement and support of school administrators. Now, they are a part of our unique master’s degrees in Educational Program Design and Educational Technology. A total of 30 credits, this degree builds practical and innovative knowledge in five course courses, plus five courses in a concentration area of your choice: Educational Technology, Inclusion, Literacy, Museum + Primary Sources, The Arts or Technology Institute for Music Educators. Concentrations can also be taken as a stand-alone graduate certificate.
Summer Music Studies + MM in Music Education
With a legacy of serving over 300 music educators from across the country each summer for over twenty years, the Summer Music Studies Program offers graduate level coursework for students interested in expanding upon their pedagogical, technological, musical, and instructional skills in all genre of music classrooms. Renowned faculty from The University of the Arts, as well as content experts from across the country, provide week-long instruction that is all about making and creating meaningful music. The University of the Arts provides the capacity to offer courses on multiple campuses and offers housing options.
Our Master of Music in Music Education degree can be completed in as few as three or four summers, but must be completed within seven years of matriculation. All coursework is offered in conjunction with the Summer Music Studies Program.
