Friendly childcare in the centre of London

Mamselle, Janine and their team aim to provide children at the LSE Nursery with a happy, safe and stimulating environment.

The LSE Nursery welcomes children of past and present staff, students and non LSE related parents.

Staff will help your child with emotional, social, physical and intellectual development. We encourage positive attitudes, and help develop confidence and self-esteem.

By offering flexible hours and half-day care, we help parents achieve a better work/life balance. And our central London location, in a quiet street between Covent Garden and Holborn stations and close to the LSE campus, means you can cut down on commuting time.

We have up to 63 places for children aged between three months and 5 years.

Age group Overall places Current availability

To apply, simply complete our nursery application form. Visit: Applying to the nursery

Rates vary according to the age of the child. London School of Economics staff and students qualify for a discount, and LSE takes part in a childcare voucher scheme.

All our nursery officers have achieved NVQ Level 3.  Our nursery assistants have a relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification, with some working towards a Level 3. To see who’s working at the nursery, visit our Who’s who.

The LSE Nursery works very closely with the government’s guidelines for Early years provisions as laid down in theRevised Statutory Framework for the Early Years  Foundation Stage [PDF]. The seven learning goals form part of this framework.

This came into force on the 1st of September 2014.  Our files have beeen updated to reflect this.

Child Care

SOAS does not have a nursery of its own. The following gives information on where SOAS students can apply for nursery places within the University of London and in the local area. Those who require nursery provision in other areas should ask for information from the local council. There is great competition for nursery places so put your name on the waiting list as early as possible.
