University of Huddersfield iPoint
Since opening in mid-January, the iPoint team in Student Central has greeted and escorted almost 3,000 visitors, students and staff members around campus.
The team has welcomed visitors from other institutions, escorted conference delegates to their venue and helped students get to their lectures on time. As a result of this demand they have developed the iGuide which enables all staff to inform them of any expected visitors.
What can the iPoint do for you?
All staff members are able to use this iPoint service to greet and escort their visitors. It could be used for small meetings involving just a few attendees to external conferences with 100+ delegates. The service is available from 8.00am to 6.00pm Mondays to Fridays (9.00am to 5.00pm during the Summer and Christmas vacations). If your event falls outside of these times, please discuss this with the iPoint team as they may still be able to assist you.
Who we are
We are a team of friendly Customer Support Assistants supported by a pool of Student Associates. All our Student Associates are current students at the University and work for us around their academic commitments. We’re really proud that we have a great mix of students from across all areas of the University.
We are part of the wider Customer Services team within Computing and Library Services.
How we support staff
If you are hosting a meeting, conference or event, we can help! We offer a service called iGuide. With iGuide you can ask your delegates to check-in at the iPoint when they arrive on campus and our friendly staff will escort them to the correct location.
If you are running events on campus it’s great if you are able to let us know about them in advance via our email firstname.lastname@example.org We find that even if we aren’t officially supporting an event we often get enquiries relating to them. The more information you arm us with the better service your visitors will receive from us.
