Business School Employability Office nominated for ‘Best University Careers/Employability Service’

Date of release: Friday, January 30, 2015

The Business School Employability Office (BSEO) at the University of Greenwich was shortlisted for the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards 2015. The NUE awards were first launched by Rate My Placement in 2010 and celebrate the outstanding achievements of universities, students and employers in the field of work experience.

This award recognises  the outstanding and invaluable contributions made by the university careers/employability services by helping students maximise and apply for work experience opportunities.

The awards received over 400 nominations, which were shortlisted by the RMP Enterprise Team. Robert Mayor, Business Faculty Operating Officer, said he was delighted the team was shortlisted for the award; which he believes demonstrates how far the BSEO Team has progressed with employability services.

Robert comments, “Improving our students’ employment opportunities is our top priority at the moment and the work of the BSEO alongside the work of our Departmental Employability Champions and Personal Tutors can make a big difference to our students’ chances of getting their first graduate job” .

The BSEO works closely with students to give them a personalised service.  Sarah Sheikh, Employer Liaison, Placements and Erasmus Coordinator comments, “we are not a one stop shop that does all. We are here to help students achieve to the best of their abilities and ultimately become an employable graduate”.

The office is always creating exclusive opportunities for our students. For example, they work closely with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to have fast track interviews on campus. They have successfully secured exclusive rights to yearlong placements with NHS trusts for students to work in their finance departments around London; and over the past 2 years, over 30 students have secured placements through these unique opportunities.

The final decisions for the 15 award categories will be made by an independent judging panel. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held at ETC Venues in London on Friday 6 February  2015
