University of Exeter Geography

Welcome to Geography at the University of Exeter. We are a vibrant community that provides a friendly but ultimately challenging environment in which to study and work. We are located on the University’s campuses in both Exeter, Devon and  near Falmouth, Cornwall, home to our new £30 million Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI).

We are one of the most successful Geography departments in the UK, with an excellent reputation for both our teaching and research. We continue to recruit world-leading academic staff at the forefront of their fields of research who are committed to bringing out the very best in our students. As a result, we attract high-quality, ambitious students from both the UK and abroad, who flourish in this inspirational environment.

Geography is at the centre of issues of relevance today and in the future. It offers explanations for, and promotes understanding of, the relationships between events and their impact both globally and locally. It is about appreciating the complexity of these events and relationships, drawing on historical experiences, and preparing for and shaping the future. It is within this context that we aim to pursue world-class research and deliver programmes of the highest quality which tackle and examine critical global issues of the 21st century.

Research-led teaching and enriched learning opportunities

We offer a challenging and extremely rewarding education in geography at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our degree programmes come with a wide range of field courses worldwide, exceptional opportunities to study abroad and a host of extra-curricular activities.
