The History Centre brings together the material held by the City Archives and Local Studies Library with those held by the University of Hull.

Your library account

Checking your library record

You can check your Library record via the Library Catalogue.

If you are a student, staff or associate member you need to enter your six digit user ID – the same as you use to access other services such as e-mail, Canvas, Portal etc.  You also need to enter your campus password.

Login to your library account now

You can also view your Library account through the University of Hull app along with information on timetables, access to emails and much more.

If you are a SCONUL member you need to enter your family name and the barcode number from your SCONUL card.

  • Click on link to “items currently checked out”
  • From this link you can see the items currently issued to you. Items can be renewed up to 3 days before their due date unless they are already overdue or reserved for another user.

Paying a fine

To encourage customers to return items by the required date, the Library charges fines which can be paid at the Library Welcome Desk or in the Reading Room.  You can also pay by telephone for payments by card. We accept cash, or credit/debit card payments (for amounts under £5.00 a 50p charge is made for credit/debit card payments).In addition to fines and other administration costs, the Library will charge for the replacement of items that have been lost whilst on loan.

Fine rates

8 week loans – 15p per day

4 week loans  – 25p per day

7 day loan items  – 50p per day

Recalled items  – 50p per day

24 hour loan items including laptops  – £1 per hour or part hour
