KeyCom

The University of Hull have partnered with Keycom to provide students in University-owned accommodation with high speed wired and wireless internet access, as well as a whole range of services including high quality streaming television and a low cost personal land line telephone.

As part of your residence you will receive, at no extra charge, KeySurf broadband internet access at 50Mbps and KeyView television.

KeySurf

It is simple to register for KeySurf from your room:

For wired:

  • Connect your computer to the Ethernet socket in your room using a network cable. Cables are available on request from the ICT service desk, or you could use your own from home if you prefer.
  • Your computer will automatically detect the service.
  • Open your web browser and follow the sign up instructions from the page displayed.

For wireless:

  • Make sure that wireless is enabled on your computer.
  • Connect your computer to the wireless network called “KeySurf”.
  • Your computer will automatically detect the service.
  • Open your web browser and follow the sign up instructions from the page displayed.

You will receive KeySurf internet access at 50Mbps and KeyView television (see KeyView tab) as part of your accommodation contract at no extra charge. During the registration process (and at any time afterwards through the account management portal) you will have the opportunity to choose even higher broadband speeds.

You will be required to agree to our terms and conditions & acceptable use policy. If you are using a desktop or laptop computer you need anti-virus software which must be running on your PC prior to connecting to the network. Students are advised to purchase a surge protection adapter and to have the facility to take regular backups to prevent against data loss.
