About the course
People are at the heart of every business, meaning that a high-performance human resources (HR) function is one of the keys to business success – with the ability to influence an organisation.
Our research-active staff bring their internationally recognised expertise to the classroom, combining cutting-edge theory with live, real world case studies, drawing on strong practical experience.
You will develop the ability to recognise and address ethical dilemmas and corporate social responsibility issues as you progress through the programme, understanding the contribution to organisational success made by effective human resource management.
Successful candidates from the Business School can apply to the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD) for Chartered Membership, once certain criteria have been satisfied.

This is a specialist programme, which aims to foster the development of a critically informed practitioner who is able to use both theoretical and practical skills to achieve HRM outcomes effectively.
You will have a minimum of a 2:2 Honours degree or equivalent, one academic reference and a good command of English.
If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level.
This course requires academic IELTS 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in each skill.

You will study the following modules

- HRM in Context
- Employment Relations
- Critical Concepts in HRM
- Learning and Development
- Comparative International HRM
You will also study human resources skills including finance and research methods, and undertake a dissertation. You can also study for this degree part time.
