Entry requirements for undergraduate degrees

Getting advice at the student centreMost of our undergraduate courses have their own entry requirements. These specific entry requirements can be seen on the page for that course or in our online prospectus. However, the University has a standard set of requirements for Undergraduate courses which you can see below.

The University requires you to have at least 2 A Levels (or equivalent) to begin an Honours undergraduate degree programme or at least one for a Foundation degree. The entry requirements for undergraduate degrees are given generally in UCAS Tariff points.

You will find the tariff points and specific entry requirements for each degree programme in the course description for the course you want to apply for. Use our course search to find your course.

A level and GCSE reforms

The University of Hertfordshire has considered the forthcoming changes to A level and GCSEs from September 2015 and do not expect to make major changes to our entry requirements. Each individual course will review the new subject content and may make some changes to subject requirements prior to publication of our 2017 undergraduate prospectus (in March 2016).

  • A levels

We consider each application on its merits and, although we do look at AS grades (if available) as part of our selection process, we also consider the applicant’s predicted grades, GCSEs, personal statement and reference when making an academic decision.

We understand that schools will be adopting a number of approaches to the reforms and we would not expect all applicants to have AS level qualifications.

The University has a long tradition of welcoming applicants from a wide range of backgrounds taking a variety of qualifications and are used to admitting students with a combination of qualifications including A levels and BTEC/vocational qualifications.
