Our degree will help you understand financial and management accounting, and how it affects planning, decision making and budget control.
The courses will give you confidence in analysing and communicating information, so you can explain concepts and manage new projects. This will develop your core skills so you can choose to take your career in any direction.
You will also learn to prepare financial reports and use software and systems. You will build these practical skills in lab exercises using MS Excel, SAP ERP 6.0 and SAGE 50 Accounts software.
If you successfully complete relevant course options, you will be exempt from a number of exam papers leading to professional qualifications from ACCA, AIA, CIMA, CIPFA, CPA Australia, ICAEW and IFA. This will set you on the path to becoming a qualified accountant after university.
You will have the option to undertake a work placement, providing the insight and practical skills that employers seek in graduates. Previous university students have secured placement years at Lawrence Grant solicitors, IBM, Northern Trust, Goldman Sachs and Currency Exchange Corporations Ltd.
We have strong connections with the City and companies in Canary Wharf, the financial centres in London. This offers you networking, mentoring and internship opportunities, making it a perfect location to start your career.
You will connect with employers through our dedicated Business School Employability Team who focus on developing your employment skills. They also provide you with CV support and will invite you to employment fairs to network with employers and recruiters from industries.
