Welcome to UOG women’s volleyball 16/17!!

Thank you for visiting our page! Please explore the website to find out everything about our friendly club including training, membership, games and our weekly socials.

Last year we did amazingly with our skills on the court. In the 2016 sports awards we won the Global Athlete’s award and Charity Award! In 2013, We won CLUB OF THE YEAR at the  sports awards… And we would love to regain this award! This year will be even bigger and better!!

If you have any questions about anything please don’t hesitate to contact any of us! Have a look on our committee and meet the team tabs to see who you will be joining as part of the volleyball family

Wednesday nights

Wednesday nights will become your favourite night of the week as we have a massive circle in the most craziest fancy dress before heading out to fever and moomoos! It’s the perfect time to bond and get to know the rest of the club as well as mixing with members from other teams. It will be the highlight of your week!

Training

Our training sessions will be on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings! Come along and join in as these sessions are important to improve individually and as a team. We welcome all abilities experienced and never played – don’t put off if it’s a new sport and doesn’t come naturally to you because we always have so much fun!

For more information check out our training tab!

Firstly, can we just say a warm welcome to the Men’s Volleyball site from all of the guys!

We pride ourselves on being a friendly club who welcome all abilities and ages to train, play or socialise with us! And if that still doesn’t satisfy you, we like to drink… a lot!

Men’s Volleyball are always on the lookout for new people to link up with our team! The majority of our existing members joined having never touched a volleyball before, so it’s not the intense start to a new club you might expect with other sports.

As well as getting fit and healthy throughout the week, the countless social events throughout the year will be enough to make your UoG experience that little bit better!

You’ll have the chance to make really close friends not just with us and the women’s side, but with a whole host of other clubs during the opening few weeks of uni life!

We love to put just as much time into the social side of things, so you’ll find us in the pub just as much as we are out on the court (especially at our local for £2 a pint)…

Well, we admit we’re not the biggest club on campus but with an average squad size of 22 for the last two seasons our close knit club is gives you the best of both worlds!

The 2016/17 season will see us enter a 1st and 2nd team into the Local League, where we travel to play the likes of Cardiff, Stroud, Lydney, Worcester, Hartpury and Cheltenham.

We are the current BUCS Western Cup champions after a successful 3-1 victory over UWE in the final this season, and maintain a strong challenge in the BUCS Western 2B league!

We have two teams here at UGMV, with our 1st team having won the GVA Local League last year thanks to a 12 game unbeaten run – whilst our 2nd team maintain a great atmosphere whilst ensuring everyone improves their individual game!

Despite having two sides, we only enter one into the BUCS division, this is so we can always ensure we have the best possible squad available every Wednesday/Saturday with plenty of depth in every position!

This year, our BUCS Western 2B league has consisted of Bristol, Cardiff, South Wales, Swansea and UWE, and you can check out how we finished in the league table by clicking here.

We’ve managed to pick up back-to-back runners up places in the BUCS league, meaning next year the target is automatic promotion to go up a division and play with some of the best in the country!

As well as success whilst playing against some of the top sides, we’ve also enjoyed some big achievements whilst representing the University, including a relatively awesome trophy haul at the 2016 Sports Awards!
