Senior Lecturer in Biology, Academic Course Leader for Ecology and Environmental Science

As a practical ecologist I’m passionate about teaching and nurturing field and laboratory skills. I enjoy finding ways to incorporate practical work into almost all of my teaching sessions.

My main area of interest lies with developing and nurturing practical skills for use within the degree courses and in industry. I lead the second year trip to the Swiss Alps where we study ecological processes. The environment in the high Alps serves as an amazing and dynamic outdoor laboratory – the students benefit hugely from the trip academically.

I found a passion for teaching shortly after joining the University in 2003 and completed my PGCHE in 2005. I am an active researcher and publish in international peer-reviewed academic journals regularly.
