Work with professional dancers and organisations
Develop your dance techniques, performance, choreography and teaching skills while exploring the development of different dance forms. As you progress through the degree, you can decide whether your passion and skills lie in performing, teaching or choreographing, or a combination of these and select optional modules to tailor your learning accordingly. Alongside core modules, we offer technique classes in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, contemporary dance, music and somatic practices.
Each year you will have the opportunity to perform and you can tailor the course to suit your chosen career path in years two and three. You will benefit from at least 20 hours of tutor contact time each week during term time. You will develop your performative and creative skills, gaining an understanding of the development of dance and its relationship to other art forms.
You will learn in our newly-built Performing Arts and Events Centre and benefit from two large, well-equipped harlequin sprung-floor dance studios, a multimedia suite and a devising studio. You will also have the opportunity to achieve dance awards through the internationally recognised Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and to gain professional qualifications for dance teaching in both in the private sector and community.
This is the ideal course for those who want to develop their practical skills and attain a high level of academic skill. It provides the opportunity for learners to attain a higher level of academic skill than a vocational college alongside developing practical and theoretical dance skills.

Mature Applicants: We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants. To find out more, please email our enquiries team.

Grade C in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent) are normally required. If you don’t meet your tariff points total we may still consider your application. Please email our admissions team for further information.
