University of Exeter Business Management

BA Business and Management

BA Business and Management examines the purpose and functioning of organisations, and the associated global business environment. The course contains significant practical elements designed to enhance your understanding of the roles, expectations, and skills required to excel in your chosen fields of work.

Technology, marketing, ethics, and the environment are considered, in addition to economics, statistics, and accounting. In the second year, the functional operations of organisations are the focus. The programme integrates the various components studied through the final year Business Strategy module. Another feature of the programme is the option of a final year business project, which will develop your research skills and involves their application to problems in the local or wider business community.

You will gain detailed knowledge of the various functional areas of a business, a broad appreciation of the environment in which businesses operate, the theory and practice of management, and the range of skills necessary for high employability in the administrative and managerial job market.

If desired, students can opt to undertake a year abroad, or a year in industry to further increase their employability. No previous study of business is required or assumed.
