Award certificates and Academic Transcripts

Once your exam board has met, it takes up to five working days for your results to be confirmed. The Registry will confer your award, close your record and send you an award confirmation letter.

Your award certificate and academic transcript cannot be produced until the Registry have completed the above step so if you haven’t received your award confirmation by email, the Graduation Office cannot produce your documents. Please note that research students don’t receive an academic transcript.

Awards documents will not be issued if you’re in debt to the University.

If you finish your studies in June

Your degree certificate and academic transcript will be ready to collect from the Silberrad Square (opposite the new Silberrad Student Centre) on the day of your Graduation after your ceremony has taken place. Your documents will not be available before Graduation even if you decide not to attend.

If you finish your studies at another time throughout the year (not June) or you don’t attend Graduation

We will email you to let you know the exact date when your award documents will be posted. (If you finish your studies in June and don’t attend Graduation, we will email you the week after Graduation has taken place). The email will be sent to your external email address that you have recorded on MyEssex so please check that you have entered an up to date address before you leave. We will keep your documents for one working week after our email has been sent.

You will need to reply to the email within five working days to let us know if you wish to select any of the following options:

  • collect your documents in person from the Silberrad Student Centre – Level 1 (ID will be required)
  • arrange for someone else to collect them on your behalf from the Silberrad Student Centre – Level 1 (ID will be required)
  • would like your documents posted to either the address on your student record or to a different address

If we don’t hear from you within one working week of our email, we will post your documents to your permanent home address (as recorded on MyEssex). Again please check that you have entered an up to date home address. Documents are sent by standard post and cannot be tracked. If you don’t tell us that your home address has changed within one working week of our email, and your documents have already been posted, you will have to order and pay for another copy via the Student Documentation Ordering System.  Please refer to our policy below.

Extra copies

Please note that we only produce one set of documents free of charge within six months of your finish (conferral) date. If you require further copies, you will need to order them via the Student Documentation Ordering System.
