University Of Edinburgh Philosophy

Philosophy has been taught in Edinburgh since the establishment of the University in 1583. Located in the modern Dugald Stewart Building in Edinburgh’s central area, we welcome over 100 new undergraduates every year and have one of the largest postgraduate communities in the world. With around 40 faculty members and postdocs, and a vibrant PhD community, we conduct a diverse range of research across many of the central areas of philosophy. We also host a number of free online courses, including the widely viewed Introduction to Philosophy.
