University of East London Occupational Psychology

MSc Occupational and Organisational Psychology

This newly re-shaped course for psychology graduates is distinctive in its applied approach to psychology and benefits from a strong professional emphasis.

The one-year course – or two years part-time – is highly attuned to the needs of working professionals. It will give you a competitive edge as you pursue a career as a practising occupational psychologist or go on to study for a professional doctorate.

In re-accrediting the course for a further five years in 2013, the British Psychological Society commended it for several aspects of good practice.

These included the availability of and support provided by staff, the practical nature of the course and its strong links with industry, and the balancing emphasis on critical thinking.

There is also invaluable input from past students offering insights into different applications of occupational psychology in practice.

We have deliberately steered away from more traditional assessment methods such as examinations, as these have little practical relevance to the kinds of challenges you will face as professionals.

(1) We’ve radically redesigned this course to align it to the new British Psychological Society syllabus. You can tailor your programme of study to suit your needs. In addition ours is the only course of its kind that runs its teaching over weekend workshops.
(2) We have excellent links with the profession and currently have seven internships on offer, plus a regular project with the occupational psychology team of a major international bank.
(3) The 2014 Research Excellence Framework survey rated 43 per cent of the research within the School of Psychology as ‘internationally excellent’ and a further 25 per cent of the research work as ‘world-leading’ – the highest accolade.
