Barton House Central & East lifts out of service

Both Central and East lifts located in Barton House have been taken out of service due to defects. Contractors have been contacted to attend to both lifts. We apologies for any inconvenience cause and will provide updates in due course.

Union House lift out of service – UPDATE 10 May

The Union House lift in the Street has been taken out of service due to a defect. Unfortunately, there is a long lead time for the spare parts and we anticipate it will be three weeks before we can fix the problem and bring it back into service.

Heating on Campus – Changes to timings

From Thursday 4th May, the district heating system will run from the early hours of each day in order that working environments are at an acceptable temperature when staff arrive for work. We will then turn off the heating to non-residential buildings in the mornings and it will remain off for the remainder of each day. Please ensure that you bring appropriate clothing to cater for possible lower than usual office temperatures. Student residences are unaffected and the heating will operate as normal. This change is being made in connection with the major works being undertaken in the main Boiler House on Chancellors Drive.

Please report any exceptional circumstances to the Estates Helpdesk on  extension 2121.

We have a maintenance team which provides both planned and reactive maintenance to help keep the University running smoothly. We are available for emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Jobs are allocated in order of priority so if you have an issue which is non-urgent, it may take a few days to be sorted out. If the defect is in your room and you are not there when we come to fix it, we will let themselves in and leave a card.

Need to report a breakdown, leak or repair?

Maintenance issues in your UEA accommodation can be reported directly to us, or if it’s more convenient you can visit the Accommodation Office who will report it for you.

Outside normal working hours

Outside normal working hours the Estates Helpdesk transfers to the Security Lodge.   Any urgent maintenance, which cannot wait until the next working day, will be dealt with as a callout to the appropriate Estates staff.  When contacting Security please provide them with as much information as possible.

Estates Help Centre

The Estates Help Centre is the first point of contact for staff, students and visitors. It provides advice on those frequently asked questions in relation to the practical side of being on the university campus to useful maps and opening times of the key services.

What times can I call the Estates Helpdesk? What times can I call the Estates Helpdesk?

You can call the 2121 phone line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

Currently our Helpdesk and customer service desks are open Monday to Friday 8:00am – 8:30pm

Between 8.30pm and 8.00am the 2121 phone line is picked up by the Security Team. Any urgent maintenance that cannot wait until the next working day will be dealt with as a call out to the appropriate Estates staff. When contacting Security please provide them with as much information as possible.
