Economics at UEA: More Than A Subject

Economics at UEA proudly combines a reputation for internationally renowned research and unparalleled academic support for our students. We consistently perform well in league tables and rankings. For example:

  • We are ranked first for academic support and second for overall student satisfaction (National Student Survey 2016)
  • We are ranked eighth for research outputs (Times Higher Education REF2014)
  • We have a 100% Employability Success Rate (DLHE 2014/15 – six months post-graduation)
  • We are ranked 16th among UK Economics Departments by the Guardian League Table 2017 and the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017

Our research-inspired approach to teaching means our students benefit from the world-class research undertaken by our academic staff. 91.8% of the School’s research is scored as either “world-leading” or “internationally excellent”, compared with an average score of 77% across all other Economics departments. We offer an outstanding academic experience that provides a platform to fully explore the influence of economic analysis.

The School of Economics is a lively, close-knit community with friendly, approachable academic staff. Studying with us means joining some of the most satisfied students in the UK. In the 2016 National Student Survey we ranked 1st for academic support and 2nd for overall satisfaction out of all English mainstream university Economics departments, with a rating of 97 per cent.

The School of Economics Newsletter 2016 gives an overview of student and staff activities within the school across the 2015/16 academic year.

Within the School, we are committed to: Inspiring Ideas | Creating Careers | Investing In You

What we can offer you

We care about you.
Our School is a lively close knit community with friendly, approachable academic staff. We take pride in being able to get to know our students on an individual level and all students are allocated a Personal Adviser so they can discuss academic issues and general concerns.
“The lecturers and seminar leaders at UEA were fantastic, both in their ability to teach and their willingness to provide extra support if required.”
