Signing in and outShift times are stated in your booked to work email; these vary depending on your role.

Sign in in C Hall 01.07. If you are starting at 14:45, sign in in C Hall foyer. If you start at a different time due to lectures etc, we will specify where to sign in in your briefing email (sent the day before you work). All roles sign out in C Hall unless stated otherwise on the day you work.

Travel information for visitorsVisitors will be arriving on buses from Costessey Park and Ride. The last bus at the end of the day will leave UEA at 4.45pm. Visitor information about travelling to and from the Applicant Day can be found here.

Registration
When visitors arrive, they need to go to their faculty desk so we can tick them off on our rosters and give them a pack, a name label and schedule for the day.

They will then opt to go on various types of tours; these are not split by subject so tour guides will have a mixed group of subject interests.

All tours need to be back in C Hall by 11:45 latest.

Bags: If you bring a bag/coat with you to work, remember to take it with you once you go on a tour. We won’t be able to look after it and will be left in Congregation Hall if it’s left behind.

Guides doing Central roles will be briefed on what to do next once all visitors leave C Hall with School Guides.

School Area – School GuidesAt 11.45am, you will take visitors from Congregation Hall to your school area; one guide per school will carry a placard for visitors to follow. Once in your school area, your afternoon of activities will include lunch, seminars or taster sessions, talks or tours of facilities. Parents and guests will have the chance to go to a panel and you might be allocated to take them. During lunch, let visitors get food first and remember it’s a working lunch; you need to chat to visitors. Admissions representatives will be there to guide you.

Parent/Guest PanelSit in the Parent Panel if you are allocated to this role and remain with your group. Listen to the panel and please don’t go on your phone.

Afternoon ToursThroughout the afternoon, visitors may ask if they can go on an afternoon tour. If you get requests, you need to book visitors onto tours using the Amazon Fires and bring any visitors to Congregation Hall after the activities in your school area have finished. Tours start at 3.00pm and depart every half an hour until 4.30pm. You may need to work until 5.00pm depending on demand. If you are unable to do this, please let us know on the day.

End of the dayAfter visitors have finished all the activities they want to, please take them to the Mega Bus Stop if they have driven to Costessey Park and Ride or take them to the relevant place on campus to get home. Then sign out with us!

The University of East Anglia (UEA) is committed to widening participation to higher education (HE). The aim of this Travel Fund is to bring more individuals, who have specific characteristics typically underrepresented in HE on to campus with a view to supporting their progression to HE. We can offer payment for a return journey to the University to enable these students to participate in our Recruitment and Outreach events. Eligible students attending UEA Applicant Days may also be able to claim for the cost of overnight accommodation. However, this is granted on a discretionary basis and is subject to funding.

The Eligibility Criteria and Application for are here. Please note this application (unless submitted by a mature student) must be signed by a supporting teacher. The application will then be reviewed by the panel who will meet monthly. Applicants will be notified in writing within 2 weeks of an outcome.

If you have any questions about the Fund please contact James.Ferguson@uea.ac.uk or call 01603 591525.
