Undergraduate Tuition Fees

The tuition fee you pay will vary depending on your fee status and your course. The fee for each course can be found on the individual course pages.

For many applicants, your fee status is the same as your current country of residence. However, not all cases are this straightforward. We use the information you provide on your application to determine your fee status, and will confirm this with you after you submit your application.

Scottish

“My home is in Scotland and I am studying in Scotland.”

If the above statement applies to you then you will probably be classified as a Scottish student for fee purposes. Tuition fees are set each year by the Scottish Government (usually in February) and are shown on each individual course page.

Who will pay my tuition fees?

You can apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) to have your tuition fees paid in full, providing you meet their residence conditions. You must apply to SAAS every year to ensure your fees are paid.

Living costs

You should apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for financial support for living costs. The total support package may consist of a bursary, parental contribution and student loan depending on your individual situation. SAAS also administers additional loans and grants to support students who have special circumstances such as a disability or health problem.

In the video below, SAAS outlines the funding available to Scottish undergraduate students studying in 2016/17.

Overseas (non-EU) student

“My home is NOT in Scotland and I am a national from outside the EU.”

If the above statement applies to you then you will probably be classified as an international student for fee purposes. You will pay the Overseas student tuition fee rates as detailed on each specific course page under Fees and Funding.

Fee guarantee for undergraduate courses

We realise that it is difficult for our international applicants to commit to an undergraduate degree for three or four years when you do not know how much the tuition fee will be after your first year. Unlike most other UK universities, we have agreed a fee guarantee for international applicants to our undergraduate courses from 2015/16 onwards.
