Opened in October 2016, our Chesterfield Campus is located at the beautiful Grade II listed St Helena building, formerly Chesterfield Girls High School. The campus provides state of the art, world class university facilities that will inspire future generations of Health and Social Care, Business, Engineering and IT students.
Facilities include teaching rooms, IT suites, a clinical skills suite, NHS-standard mock ward and an immersive simulation suite to represent a range of working environments.
With its historic past as the heart of industrial England, Chesterfield is still a hub of commercial and industrial activity with opportunities for work placements and local networking. The new Chesterfield Campus provides exciting opportunities to build on the existing working relationships with Chesterfield Royal Hospital and North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Hardwick CCG to become a centre of excellence in Healthcare studies in the UK.
The campus also boasts an Innovation Centre that will enable the University to work collaboratively with industry, particularly the advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors. The Innovation Centre also boasts six business incubation units where young businesses can feel at ease to introduce their products to market, benefiting from stepped rental charges and a range of business support services to help them on their way.
The University received investment for the Chesterfield Campus from partners including £3.48million from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (promoting economic growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire).
Funding and support from the European Regional Development Fund is contributing to the costs of equipment and support of the Innovation Centre at the Chesterfield Campus, which will support innovation and business growth (as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in the D2N2 area).
