University of Derby Access Course

You can take our Access to Higher Education Diploma which will give you a recognised qualification to get into university. The course is delivered by the University of Derby at our Buxton, Leek or Derby Campus.

If you feel you need a smaller step to get back into education we offer a Pre Access and GCSE programme.

What will I study?

You’ll study a range of subjects, including maths and English (unless you already have maths and English at GCSE level).

What you choose will depend on what you want to do after you’ve finished the course. Our tutors will be able to help you make the right choice. For a full list of subjects available click here.

When will I study?

The course runs for a one year, starting in September.

What are the entry requirements for this course?

You will need to be over 19 years of age and have some life experience. Entry to Access to HE Diploma will be considered on an individual basis. You will also need to demonstrate a commitment and ability to study, and take a literacy test before we can offer you a place.
