University Of Cumbria Welcome Week
Welcome to the University of Cumbria. We look forward to ensuring you get the extra help you need before beginning study in the UK. We understand that starting university is a major change for anyone, let alone starting life in a new country. That’s why we have set up a Welcome Week to help get you adjusted to living in the UK, as well as beginning university. You’ll get a full introduction to your course, look at learning and teaching methods in the UK and get help adjusting to life away from home. UCert in Advanced English Language and Research Skills
If you are an English Major student, you may join us in your junior year to complete one semester or a full academic year at our campus in Lancaster. Not only will you earn credits towards your degree at home, but you will also be working towards to UK Higher Education certificates awarded by the University of Cumbria. You will study a variety of courses that will enhance your English language skills within an English–speaking environment, and develop your research skills in a community-based project, giving you an excellent foundation for your dissertation studies in the final year of your bachelor’s degree.

International Foundation Programme Modules
The programme consists of six modules delivered over two semesters:
- English language development
- Cultural studies
- Introduction to inter-cultural communication
- Academic English
- Skills for academic study
- General academic studies
