University Of Cumbria PGCE Primary
Our PGCE Primary courses are popular and very successful; they get consistently high ratings from students, external examiners, inspectors and employers. They are delivered by highly committed and effective university and workplace-based tutors.
This course is particularly successful at preparing teachers who are reflective, skilful, knowledgeable and caring. You learn the knowledge and skills needed to be an effective teacher, develop as an independent learner and nurture the beliefs, values and self-motivation that you will need throughout your career.
You will have the opportunity to spend over half of the 38-week course working with children. You will spend 48 days at university and 120 days on placement. With four placements in a variety of schools and settings, you will have a wealth of diverse classroom experience to take with you as you embark on your career as a lower primary teacher.
You study two modules at Masters level, reflecting the very high standards achieved by students on this course. On completion of your PGCE, you can seek accreditation (of 40 credits) towards our MA in Education when you return to study later in your career.
