University Of Cumbria Musical Theater

Take your love for musical theatre to a whole new level by getting involved with our specialised course! We’re here to develop your acting and singing talents to a professional standard, providing a supportive work environment to help you learn and grow. Our course staff are professional practitioners of the arts, and visiting professionals from the industry will help evaluate your strengths and prepare you for employment after graduation.

We provide a highly practical course that explores a wide variety of skills and techniques in singing, acting and dance styles. Working in small groups, you’ll receive the full amount of attention you deserve from your tutors and build your confidence through exercises with your new friends. We provide the opportunity to work on musicals, cabarets and solo projects, culminating in the graduate showcase on London’s West End. Get started on your path to stardom by honing your skills through our fully involved course.

Our highly practical programme is structured around regular musical theatre performances and productions, focusing on employability right from the start. You’ll be trained in approaches to singing and musical theatre, looking at a range of styles and practitioners. There’ll be exploration of musical theatre performance history and cultural contexts, with opportunities to devise, script and compose your own projects.

We develop professional practice through a high level of contact with industry professionals, mentoring development through company classes and rehearsals. The final year will focus on practice as research and independent projects, including the opportunity to take part in our graduate showcase in London.
