University Of Cumbria Drama

We will help you explore the world of contemporary and classical theatre from the practical and theoretical viewpoint of an actor. You’ll start with the basic principles of voice and movement for actors, as well as developing improvisational skills. You’ll also look into the theoretical issues informing classic and contemporary texts.

In your second year you will work as an actor in two productions, one designed for performance in an orthodox theatre space and the other made for a specific audience. This will help you in your third year where you will act in a piece directed by a visiting practitioner, as well as in a student-led company devising and presenting an original performance. We’ll also have you write and research an extended essay on a special subject of interest within the area of drama, and prepare a personal portfolio for use in finding employment.
