University for the Creative Arts

SURREY AND KENT, UNITED KINGDOM

The second-largest centre for creative arts education in the UK, UCA is spread across four locations and first opened its doors to students in Victorian times. Fashion courses are taught at the campuses in the market towns of Epsom and Rochester in the south of England. Overall, UCA students were pleased with their campuses and the resources the university provides. All students engage in internships during their degree. However, students feel slightly less prepared than average for work in the fashion industry. Application for undergraduate studies is competitive, however UCA offers pre-degree courses with guaranteed progression to an undergraduate course. The university also maintains several accredited research centres, including a Centre for Sustainable Design and an International Textiles Centre. The university plans to extend its postgraduate degrees to a fashion business portfolio of MA, MBA and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for 2016/17. Currently, UCA offers MAs in fashion, promotion and imaging, and marketing and management.
