UCL Energy Institute

The UCL Energy Institute delivers world-leading learning, research and policy support on the challenges of climate change and energy security, drawing on expertise from across UCL, to make a truly cross-disciplinary contribution to the development of a globally sustainable energy system.

It has links with most of the main companies interested in energy research, including the major energy suppliers, component and product manufactures. It maintains strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as Arup, EDF, Johnson Controls, PassivSystems and the BRE.

The Energy Institute works closely with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS, formally DECC) and has produced energy models which are routinely used in DECC’s work. It also provides consultancy for organisations including DECC, BEIS, the Committee on Climate Change; the World Wildlife Foundation; the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; and the Department for Transport.

UCL-Energy is one of the world’s most sought-after destinations for aspiring students of energy demand and energy economics and policy.

We provide a single focus for the world-leading energy research being done across UCL departments. A place where students from a wide spectrum of professional, academic and cultural backgrounds can develop new skills in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
