Our open days are designed to give you as much information as possible about UCB and the areas you are interested in studying. The range of our course provision – from further education/college courses through to university and postgraduate degrees – means we have separate events for the different levels. Please click below on the relevant link to find out more information about the open day for you. Come along and we may make you an offer on the day.

Undergraduate Open Days

Thank you for considering University College Birmingham for your degree or foundation degree.

Our open days are designed to give you as much information as possible about the University, the course you are interested in studying and our superb facilities. They are a great opportunity to get an insight into our unique atmosphere.

Open days for full-time degrees can be tailored to suit your own requirements by booking on subject specific talks and accommodation tours.

If you would like to apply for Specialist Hair & Media Make-up for 2018 entry, the next Open Day is Saturday 1 July 2017. If you have already applied for 2017 entry you will be invited to attend an applicant day early 2017.

Your VIP backstage pass

After you have registered, your VIP pass will be sent out in the post to you a couple of weeks before the open day. It will tell you which site to report to – either Summer Row or Richmond House (on Newhall Street).

The pass gives you and your guests access to:

  • A tour of our facilities and a free lunch
  • Live demonstrations from our cookery, bakery and hair & beauty students
  • Advice and information on study support, transport costs, English & maths qualifications, careers etc
  • Access to our magic mirror photobooth – ideal for your first college “selfie”

Apply for a course on the day

You can apply to join a course at the open day, which runs from 11am – 3pm. To do so, you will need to bring the following if possible:

  • Work experience report
  • Year 10/11 report
  • A piece of coursework
  • Attendance report

If you have already left school, you will need to bring the following if possible:

  • A reference from your previous school/college or employer
  • Copies of your qualifications

Postgraduate Open Days

If you’re considering postgraduate study, then our open days are a great place to start.

They are designed to give you as much information as possible about the University, the course you are interested in studying and our superb facilities.

Our open days are a great opportunity to get an insight into our unique atmosphere and you will get to meet our staff and students.

Wednesday 10 May 2017, 5.30 – 8pm

What the day involves

  • We will provide you with information about the benefits of postgraduate study, course details, fees, scholarships, accommodation and the application process.
  • The opportunity to speak directly to academic staff and learn about the wider benefits of postgraduate studies, including career opportunities.
  • Finding out about the support we offer during the admissions process and after you have joined UCB.
  • A tour of our new teaching facility, McIntyre House, which opened in September 2014 and is dedicated to postgraduate and undergraduate degree studies.

Postgraduate loan

English and EU students studying a full Masters (MA/MSc) course (i.e. the full 180 credits) may be eligible for a Postgraduate loan from Student Finance of up to £10,280, if you meet the relevant criteria.

You will have the opportunity to discuss the Postgraduate loan with our Finance Department at the open day.
