The Volleyball Club reputation has increased around the University for its competitive attitude and incredible social atmosphere. The volleyball club, currently have one women’s and two men’s teams. All teams compete in the weekly BUCS leagues held every Wednesday, either at home or away. The club also participates in the annual indoor Student Cup qualifiers, as well as the BUCS cup and friendly matches with local NVL clubs and Universities.

The club is notorious for its social atmosphere, as every Wednesday both the men’s and women’s teams come together to hold a joint social, creating a close family like connection with all members. The club also holds an array of social events throughout the year, which all members are invited to participate in enjoyable activities and charitable fundraisers.

After the 14/15 season we had a high amount of leavers, meaning the teams for the 15/16 season were filled with new and highly motivated players. Our 15/16 season consisted of some incredible performances and with the experience the new teams have gained over the past season it has put the club in a good position in terms of development, going into the future. The Club has close links with both Volleyball England and several National Volleyball League clubs. This helps to support both the recreational opportunities and for the competitive athletes.

We welcome students of all abilities to try out for a place in the squads and to attend in our recreational session. We currently run 4 sessions per week for all squad members; squad training sessions, development training, early morning match preparation and a ‘Get Active’ recreational session. If anyone is unsuccessful in making the selected squads, we promote that you stay within the club and join us in our weekly socials, support us in our regular fixtures and frequent social/charity club events. We are a very welcoming club and hate turning people away that are seeking to make new friends and expanding their social life.
