International Students Vacation Dates

In order to assist both international students and potential employers, the University has published the following vacation dates for the current academic year.

Potential employers of international students are strongly advised to check both the restrictions detailed in an individual student’s Tier 4 – General visa, and seek guidance from the UKVI directly or via the UKVI website.

Vacation dates

For students on full-time programmes of study leading to the award of International Foundation Year or Bachelors Degree (BA, BSc, BA (QTS) and LLB).

  • Saturday, 8 April 2017 to Monday, 1 May 2017
  • Saturday, 8 July 2017 to Sunday, 1 October 2017
  • Saturday 16 December 2017 to Monday 7 January 2018
  • Saturday 24 March 2018 to Sunday 15 April 2018
  • Saturday 7 July 2018 to Sunday 2 October 2018

For students on full-time programmes of study leading to the award of Masters Degree (MA, MSc, MBA, LLM and MTh) or full-time Research Degrees (MPhil and PhD).

  • Saturday 8 April 2017 to Sunday 23 April 2017
  • Saturday 19 August 2017 to Sunday 3 September 2017 (Sunday 10th September for MSc Professional Nursing)
  • Saturday 16 December 2017 to Tuesday 2 January 2018
  • Saturday 24 March 2018 to Sunday 8 April 2018
  • Saturday 18 August 2018 to Sunday 2 September 2018 (Sunday 11th September for MSc Professional Nursing)

All dates are inclusive.

Guidance Notes

Under the UKVI rules students studying in the United Kingdom on a Tier 4 Visa, are restricted to specified working hours during the term-time as specified in the individual student’s visa contained in the passport.  Usually 20 hours per week, being the seven day period from Monday to Sunday, for Bachelors, Masters and Research Degrees and 10 hours per week (Monday to Sunday) for the Foundation programmes.
