About us – Institute of Medicine

The Institute of Medicine is an exciting new development at University of Chester.

The Institute has a portfolio of postgraduate programmes suitable course for practising doctors and health professionals employed by the health sector in one capacity or another, or medical practitioners wishing to enhance their independent practice through a CPD/personal development plan.

Programmes are delivered by our highly qualified staff in collaboration with medical consultants and healthcare specialists.

The aims of the Institute of Medicine are as follows

  1. Develop and deliver Postgraduate taught medical programmes
  2. Provide high quality research degree supervision
  3. Develop research programmes jointly with the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (COCH) and other hospital trusts that are relevant at regional, national and international level
  4. Develop and deliver CPD programmes suitable for the medical and healthcare professions
  5. Develop and publish 2 new biochemical/medical journals though ChesterOnline – one a review series and the second a primary research journal
  6. Develop a new undergraduate medical curriculum
  7. Develop processes and structures to allow the development of a new Medical School
  8. Develop and deliver clinical services
  9. Explore further additions to University’s portfolio of Healthcare Programmes

Academic Courses

  Our courses are designed to provide specialist education for Doctors and Healthcare Professionals. They are delivered across Cheshire and Shropshire, from our base at Bache Hall and other bases at University Centre Shrewsbury. We will deliver Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses.

Our vision for UG Medicine in Cheshire was presented in early 2015 and is now downloadable.

Our vision for UG Medicine in Shropshire was presented in Shrewsbury in April and is now downloadable.

We participate in the Erasmus + programme.
