   Estates and Facilities is a multi-disciplinary department providing a comprehensive estate planning and management service and a range of facilities support services to support the academic and related business safely, effectively and efficiently.

The University’s impressive estate is split across several major sites, including Chester (Parkgate, Queen’s Park, Riverside and Kingsway), Thornton, Science Park, and Warrington together with other smaller sites in the region.

The role has substantial budgetary and staff management responsibilities.

        The Facilities Department is responsible for the management of the University’s property portfolio across all of the University estate and related facilities. The Department is seeking to appoint a full time Premises Manager, based at the Chester Campus, reporting directly to the Head of Estates.  The role holder will be responsible for directly overseeing the maintenance services across the Campus made up of academic/teaching spaces and residential areas such as student houses/halls of residence. The role holder will be line manager for the Maintenance Team based at Chester and will oversee the daily operation of the Helpdesk Interactive system through which Maintenance works are received and allocated.

You will ensure the highest levels of service are provided across the Campus by the Maintenance Team and external contractors to ensure the comfort and safety of staff, students and external groups as well as demonstrating value for money with respect to services and goods.

You must be educated to Degree level standard, or equivalent, hold an IOSH and/or a NEBOSH certificate and have clear proven experience in an engineering or building discipline or similar.  You will also have all round knowledge of building trades and maintenance services as well as a clear understanding of related legislation including Electrical and Health & Safety legislation.  Excellent IT, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi task to ensure excellent levels of service are essential.
