University of Brighton Student Central
studentcentral is a student intranet for the University of Brighton; it is a one-stop-shop for everything students need while studying at the University of Brighton.
studentcentral‘s personalised home page gives you access to academic and other resources wherever you have internet access – at home, abroad or from any university computer. If you have a special need to have your home page personalised even further, please contact the studentcentral team.
studentcentral includes pages for your school, your individual modules or units, the ASK Study Guide and Student Life. In your course and module or unit areas you will find handbooks, timetables, course announcements, course material and reading lists.
studentcentral links you to the online library (see Reading lists and Learning Resources) and the local student mail service. There are links to your personal space (online community) where you can create and share blogs, newsfeeds, and special interest groups (see Community @ Brighton – what is it?)
studentcentral lets you email members of the same modules, set up online discussions, communicate in real time and share files within small groups.
studentcentral provides an easy way for staff to make teaching material available on the internet. Course material can include text, downloadable Office files, images, or even multimedia such as audio or video files. Tutors can set up online assessments including both formative (eg quizzes) and summative assessments, and surveys. There are facilities for submitting copies of assignments online and many more. It also lets tutors control and monitor student access to the material they have created.
