University of Brighton Staff, How I like to teach

Teaching is about enabling learning. I endeavor to make sense of the learner’s needs and facilitate their learning in order to promote personal development, professionalism and improve the learner’s ability to learn.

I teach and supervise both nursing students and qualified nurses. I use a range of resources and technologies to support learning and teaching and welcome observation and feedback on my teaching from peers and students alike.

My research interests

I am interested in how students learn in practice and the use of feedback to support assessment.

Research activity

  • Qualitative study on the nurse student applicant’s experience of sharing their values at selection events
  • Mixed method study on teaching non-technical skills to nursing students
