The application timeline for courses starting in 2017
|Undergraduate and postgraduate applications open
You can apply for your course through UCAS (undergraduate), or direct to us (postgraduate) from September.
When you apply to us you’ll be given access to the applicant area of studentcentral.

|February–March||Think about your accommodation
If you’ve accepted an offer you’ll be invited to apply for accommodation in late March.

|UCAS ExtraUndergraduate students who have used all five choices on UCAS and are not holding any offers, can add more choices through UCAS Extra from February to June.
If you have not already applied through UCAS, you can start a new application or apply direct to the university.

|From April||CAS numbers issued
CAS numbers can be issued up to six months before your course start date.

|April–May||EU students, apply for your student funding
According to Student Finance England, EU students will be able to apply for student finance by April 2017.
To ensure you have your funding in place before you start your course, make sure that you apply early. You do not need to wait until you have accepted your place here to apply for funding.

We send out invitations by email to apply for university halls of residence from mid-February. If you have not heard from us by May, please contact us while there is still time for you to apply.

|From July||Apply for your visa
Visa applications can be made by students (up to three months before the course start date).

|1 July||Undergraduate students can apply directly to us
Undergraduate students who haven’t previously applied through UCAS and have their exam results can apply directly to us through a process called ‘Record of Prior Acceptance’.

|15 July||Accommodation deadline
International students are guaranteed a place in university accommodation if they accept their offer and apply for accommodation by the deadline.

Check when your course starts, the academic year for most undergraduate and postgraduate courses starts in late September.

There is no application deadline for postgraduate courses, but you must allow enough time to apply for your visa.
Offer deadline for international postgraduate students
The deadline to respond to your conditional or unconditional offer of a place at Brighton will be detailed on the information about your offer page in the applicant area of studentcentral, this will normally be two months from the date your offer was made. If you don’t accept your offer by the deadline, your offer will automatically be withdrawn and you’ll no longer be able to take up your place on that course.
