Undergraduate programmes

As a psychology student at Birmingham, you will have access to purpose-built facilities specifically equipped for work in human brain sciences (including brain imaging), psychophysiology, cognition and speech production, visual and auditory perception, food and nutritional psychology, psychopharmacology, social psychology, child development, clinical and forensic psychology.

We offer the following programmes at undergraduate level:

Psychology BSc (Hons)

Psychologists work in basic and applied research in fields that include education and child development, clinical work, the  courtroom (acting as expert witnesses), industry (helping to design efficient machines or optimising business organisations), and in universities researching every branch of human behaviour from visual perception to sexuality. This BPS-accredited degree covers all aspects of psychology.

Psychology and Psychological Practice MSci (Hons)

This BPS-accredited degree is designed for those considering a career in clinical, forensic, educational psychology and related fields. Students will take the same modules as in BSc Psychology in the first three years, followed by an additional specialist fourth year. One of the key components of the fourth year is a work placement in one of these three areas of applied psychology.

Psychology and Psychological Research MSci (Hons)

This BPS-accredited degree is designed for those considering a career in research (eg, working for universities, think tanks and consulting). Students will take the same modules as in BSc Psychology in the first three years, followed by an additional specialist fourth year.

Human Neuroscience BSc (Hons)

This course introduces students to the emerging discipline of neuroscience. It is taught by international experts in neuroscience research and gives students broad coverage from molecules to behaviour.
