University Of Bedfordshire Widwifery 18 Month
The aim of the course is to prepare students for registration as a midwife and entry to part 2 of the NMC Register; the course combines practice with in theory settings; placements are in all midwifery settings, community and hospital based, as well as relevant learning experiences in other non-midwifery placements which include NHS Direct, medical wards, mental health care, theatres and gynaecology.
Areas of study include: Normal childbearing processes; public health; promoting women’s health; acute and emergency midwifery care.
Assessment is theory and practice based, including examinations, vivas, reflective essays, presentations, seminars and health promotion activities; students undertake a dissertation in the final year of the course.
