New gyms – Luton and Bedford

Staff and students are to benefit from brand new Aspire Gyms at the Luton and Bedford campuses.

The gyms, opened in June 2015, are part of a £90m investment into student-focused facilities, which includes the new library at the Luton campus.

Paragon Interiors Group Plc is the main contractor, which recently oversaw the construction of two new science labs at the University.

The Luton development is situated on the ground floor of the Park Square building, with the existing classroom in A000 relocated to A500.

The Bedford build has transformed former offices next to the University’s new 300-seat sports hall.

The new suites, available at a low cost to staff and students, include:

  • Treadmills, cross trainers, exercise bikes, and more
  • Latest sports therapy equipment such as vibration plates
  • Two changing rooms with showers
